Neil S. Fleckman / C.V.

Originally from Louisiana, Neil Fleckman graduated with honors in Russian from the University of Louisville, and did postgraduate study in Theatre at the School of the Arts, Columbia University.  His debut as an actor was in the National Company of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, produced by David Merrick.

Turning to a production career in New York, Fleckman served as General Manager of The Paul Taylor Dance Company, and presented Taylor twice on Broadway, at the Lyceum and Mark Hellinger Theatres.  He arranged engagements for the company featuring ballet star Rudolf Nureyev, including with the celebrated Nureyev & Friends on Broadway.

In association with Bruce Michael, he was responsible for the touring of Broadway musicals: Jerry's Girls (the music of Jerry Herman), headlined by Jo Anne Worley; Phyllis Newman in The Madwoman of Central Park West and Vamps & Ride-Outs (the music of Jule Styne); Tintypes, with Patrice Munsel; and Maria Muldaur in The Pirates of Penzance.  They were Associate Producers of the National Tour of Jerry's Girls, starring Carol Channing and Leslie Uggams.  The two represented concert artists Barbara Cook, Jo Sullivan and Kitty Carlisle Hart.

At the invitation of actress Joanne Woodward, Fleckman and Michael led the team that established Dennis Wayne's Dancers. They arranged tours for ballet companies, including The Houston Ballet, The Hartford Ballet, and The Ohio Ballet.  The two were personal managers for New York City Ballet principals Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux.  They presented The Pavlova Celebration with Starr Danias throughout the US.

With Elite Productions, Fleckman co-produced the Canadian premiere of the play Extremities, by William Mastrosimone, at the Centaur Theatre in Montreal, and Barry Keating's satire Hollywood Opera and Kaye Ballard in Concert, in Toronto.  He presented the twelve-city South American tour of Ain't Misbehavin', under the auspices of the US Department of State, and general managed a US  tour of the musical Evita.  He organized Italian festival tours for principal dancers from New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, and served as one of the American producers of the Donyetsk Ballet from Ukraine, starring Vadim Pisarev.

During the 1990 theatre season, Fleckman produced the Latin American debut of the Broadway musical 42nd Street, with a leading Argentine cast, at the Metropolitan Theatre in Buenos Aires.

His focus, since then, is directing in the theatre.
